Samsung Rant Cell Phone - Design

Like many of its competitors, the Rant is extremely portable. Its length is only 4.5 inches, while its width is 2.1 inches. Its thickness is 0.7. To understand how small these specs are, take a look at the pic below.

So, if you don't feel like putting the Rant in your purse or wearing it with a clip, you can simply place it into your pocket.

But don't worry. The Rant's diminutive nature won't interfere with your texting, since both the screen and the keyboard are a decent size (especially in comparison to the LG Rumor). With the Rant, you'll be texting with relatively large keys and a 2.1 inch display. Granted, your experience won't replace texting on a laptop, but as far as cell phones are concerned, the Rant is superior.

As to the overall design, the Rant can be used vertically (like a traditional cell phone), or horizontally. The horizontal angle is useful when you are texting. However, in order to access this angle, you must slide out the QWERTY keyboard. To do this you must slide the phone to the right side. Once the keyboard is revealed, you will hear a slight "snapping" sound that confirms it is in place.

In terms of the Rant's buttons, most of them are raised, which ensures the most accurate input. Competing smart phones often rely on touch screens, which some users find annoying. With the Rant, you'll never have to worry about erroneous input, whether you're typing on the keyboard, dialing a number with the keypad or using the phone's navigation buttons.

The fun doesn't end there. After you're done calling or texting, you can sit back, relax and use the Rant to listen to or watch your favorite media. And, you don't even have to download anything. Just upload your media onto a micro-SD card and pop it into the SD slot located along the left side of the device, where the battery cover is. You will also find a headset jack and volume switch in the same area.

You can also use the Rant to create your own multimedia, at least when it comes to photographs and videos. To do this, you can use the two-megapixel camera located at the back of the device.
