Samsung P2 Media Player - Performance
Overall, the audio, video, and processor performance of the Samsung P2 is excellent – the only exception being the sometimes unresponsive touch-screen interface. Photos and videos look great on the high resolution screen and show little, if any, pixelation. Music is equally impressive with crystal clear highs and solid, though not mind-blowing, lows. The P2 also features a customizable 7-band equalizer for adjusting the sound to your own ideal levels. Some MP3 players out there don't even have an equalizer, such as the 80GB Zune. So it's refreshing to see such a good EQ in the P2.
Here's what some of the expert reviewers have said about the sound/video quality of the Samsung P2:
Anythingbutipod: “The P2’s sound quality is very good and will work well with higher end IEMs and headphones...Being overly critical on sound quality, I find the mid bass is lacking clarity, running into the lower end bass.”
CNet: “Photos look stunning on the screen--they are exceedingly bright and crisp. Videos at the highest possible resolution look similarly excellent, though we noticed some pixelation in the videos with a resolution of 320x240...Music sounds simply fantastic...Overall, the P2 provides a highly pleasant and engaging listening experience.”
Infosyncworld: Rates the video quality and sound quality of the Samsung P2 as “very good.”
PCMagazine: “the P2 has the second-best video display on the market (behind the Touch), along with touch-screen control, excellent graphics, and easy navigation...the P2 is a high-quality, head-turner of a player.”
In terms of battery performance, the P2 is rated for 35 hours of audio and five hours of video by the manufacturer. Independent tests by both CNet and PCMag have shown much lower figures for the audio performance. Their tests have shown closer to 16 hours of battery life – not very good.
