    Samsung Instinct - Specs continued

The phone comes with a 2.0 MP camera on the back with a self portrait mirror. It shoots video as well as pictures, something that gives it an advantage over the iPhone. The downside is that there is no flash for the camera.

Unlike many cell phones and some smart phones, the audio jack on the Instinct is 3.5mm, your typical headphone size. No need to go buy a special set of headphones or an adapter.

It's time to talk about the battery. The battery is rated to last 5.75 hours for talk time. The iPhone claims to be able to last 8 hours. So the Instinct does trail behind the iPhone, but the iPhone's battery is in there forever, whereas the Instinct's battery is user-replaceable.

Based only on the Instinct's hardware, it would not be that powerful and complete of a smart phone. It simply doesn't have the specs one would expect of a smart phone -- that is, you can find smart phones with these specs, but with so many companies facing competition from the iPhone, you expect to see something more. Many companies are packing phones with as many features as they can to compete.

So how does this device compare to the iPhone? I think the Instinct would be a first-generation iPhone killer; it has many features that the iPhone didn't, such as GPS. When Apple released the 3G iPhone, it also added many features that people wanted to have and were missing from the first generation. If you are looking at the Instinct and a non-3G iPhone, I would take the Instinct. I don't see people jumping ship to pick up the Instinct over the iPhone. I have a feeling that like the iPhone, the second-generation Instinct will really be feature-packed and start making waves in smart phone and cell phone sales.
