Samsung Glint SCH-u350 from Alltel and Verizon Wireless Escapade - Verizon Wireless Escapade

If you are a world traveler in search of an affordable phone that you can use no matter which continent you are on, the Verizon Wireless Escapade may be just what you are looking for. It is a world phone that functions in the United States or abroad, thanks to its dual-mode CDMA/GSM chip. Add on a couple other nice features like GPS and a camera, and you have a decent little package. Even nicer is its price, which at only $29.99 with a two-year service agreement from the carrier, is tough to beat.

For its price, there are an admirable amount of features on the Escapade. The most important, though, is its dual-mode CDMA/GSM chip. Perfect for frequent travelers, this allows you to use the Escapade on any GSM network abroad by using the GSM-compatible SIM card on the phone.

All the basics are present as well, such as a text and multimedia messaging, voice commands, a speakerphone, a note pad, a calendar, an alarm clock, and both a regular and tip calculator. Keeping in line with the traveling theme, you also get a world clock and a unit converter that are sure to come in handy on your voyages. You can store up to 500 contacts in the Escapade, along with various phone numbers, email addresses, and other data for each. You can further sort your contacts into groups, and also pair them with their own ringtone or photo.

Stepping up a notch in the features department is the inclusion of Bluetooth, as well as GPS for turn-by-turn directions. You can keep in touch with all your contacts not only via phone call but through other methods as well on the Escapade. Email options include a fee-based mobile email service from Verizon that relays all your messages from popular services like AOL, Hotmail, Yahoo, and Gmail. For free, you can simply check email from the services themselves using the included web browser. Popular instant messaging services such as AIM and Windows Live Messenger are also accessible on the Escapade.
