RIM BlackBerry Curve 8320 - Design

The RIM BlackBerry Curve 8320 is available in three colors: pale gold, titanium and sunset. Of these colors, the pale gold and the titanium seem to be the most popular. However, don't think that this means the sunset design is unattractive. With its fiery red color, it has a sense of style all of its own. Of course, in my personal opinion the color doesn't really match its description, since most people associate sunlight with yellow. But you can judge for yourself by taking a look at the picture below.

As far as overall design, all of the models are compact and highly portable. In fact, the device is so small it fits right in the palm of your hand. This is not to say there aren't smart phones that are even smaller, but generally you shouldn't have any problems carrying around the BlackBerry 8320.

The models also possess the same type of layout. And basically, this entails not only a generous 2.5 inch screen but also a full QWERTY keyboard, which can easily be used with one finger. In addition, all of the models possess a soft-touch finish. This means that the phone has a more convenient grip, allowing easier use of its controls.

Speaking of controls, the BlackBerry 8320 offers no type of touch screen support. Interaction must be done through the phone's buttons, keyboard or trackball. Now, some people may not like that, but others may find it to be a godsend. At least with buttons, you know you're making the right selections. With touch screens, you have to be careful you're not making selections too fast. This is especially the case with smart phones that aren't calibrated well. What could be done in a second might take a minute or two... an annoyance that is completely eliminated with the BlackBerry 8320.

Things can get done even faster if you decide to use the phone's programmable buttons. For example, if you're in a situation where all you're doing is taking pictures, you don't want to have to keep navigating through a million screens to get the phone set to camera. That's why the BlackBerry 8320 has a programmable button that is automatically set to camera. If you want it set to something else, you can either change that setting or use the second programmable button that is located on the left side of the phone. This is also where the USB is located.
