    Pre-Paid Cell Phones - Finding a Phone

Finding the right pre-paid service provider is only half the battle when it comes to pre-paid cell phones. So now that you know how you’re going to pay for all that talk time, you need to figure out what you’re going to use to get your gab on.

There are hundreds of different types of cell phones. The main component of any phone is not the features or the flip. It’s not the sound card or the keypad. It’s not the number of good-looking accessories and it’s not even the dimensions.

The most important part of any cell phone is the tiny, wafer-thin card that’s buried deep inside. This is known as a SIM card by most, and it holds all the information your phone needs to work.

In a lot of cases, it’s possible to change out SIM cards. If you get a new phone but not a new plan, or you have an old phone and a new plan, it’s possible to take the SIM card that’s attached to the right plan and insert it into the right phone.

In other words, you can potentially have nearly any phone you want. Pre-paid phones are extremely varied; you may purchase a plain model very inexpensively, or go for all the bells and whistles and get the sleekest number you can find.

Pick your phone the same way you pick your plan -- based on your own personal needs, likes and dislikes (and budget). Many pre-paid phones on the market stand alone. This means that, when you buy the phone you’re also getting pre-paid service to go with it. In the next section, you can read about some of the pre-paid phones out there.
