    Palm Pre - The Phone

First we will take a look at the Pre’s hardware. Previous Palms had outdated hardware and high prices. Palm acquired some pretty high tech stuff for the Pre. The phone will run on EV-DO Rev A or HSDPA, the faster of the networks out there. It was built in 802.11 G with supporting WPA, WPA2 and 802.1 x authentications. Rounding out the radios are GPS and Bluetooth 2.1 EDR with A2PD stereo support. Yay for wireless headphones!

The screen is 3.1 inches running at a resolution of 480 X 320. It’s a very nice screen, with touch screen capabilities. For those who hate on-screen keyboards, don’t fear, the Pre has a slide-out keyboard. It doesn’t slide out straight, but out towards you, giving you more of a banana-shaped cell phone.

A 3 MP camera with LED flash is on the back. Like the iPhone, it has 8 GB of memory built in for storing media, files and programs. There isn’t an expansion slot, however. The Pre does use the standard 3.5mm headphone jack, so no need to mess with goofy adapters and converters.

The phone’s sizes are the following:

    Width: 2.3 Inches

    Height: 3.9 inches

    Thickness: 0.67 inches

There's nothing super slick here, but it's remarkable for Palm, who has been selling bricks until now.
