Nokia N95 - Wireless Internet and GPS

As far as wireless options go, the N95 offers both Bluetooth 2.0 capabilities and 802.11b/g Wi-Fi compatibility. Connecting to the Internet from the main menu is simple and relatively fast. Multi-tasking while on the Internet is not really recommended with this device, because you will really take a hit in its performance. The software in the N95 will convert web pages to fit its small display. Overall, the web experience using the N95 is above average, as long as you don't have multiple windows opened at once.

The last feature that I want to talk about is the integrated GPS feature in the N95. The GPS receiver built in to the N95 works really well, although it is a bit slow. This is to be expected from an all-in-one type of device. You can download maps via the Nokia website. The GPS feature includes a nice-sized database of POIs, as well as a trip odometer. You can search for destinations just as you would with any other type of GPS device--address, POI, business name, etc. The full-color screen will display the route and distances. You can also purchase an add-on feature, which will give you voice-guided turn-by-turn directions. This add-on feature will cost about $12 per month, or about $100 per year.

    Final Thought

The Nokia N95 is a great multimedia device, which comes with a hefty price tag. For those who can afford it, I highly recommend this smart phone. The N95 comes equipped with almost every feature you could ask for--MP3 player, digital camera, Wi-Fi, GPS, and more. It's easy to forget that the N95 is also a phone, and a good one at that. The N95 would be a great device for someone "on the go" who is looking for a device to replace their music player, portable GPS unit, digital camera, laptop, and cell phone. If you're the type of person who has all of the previously mentioned devices on you at all times, the N95 can definitely help you pack lighter while traveling by replacing most of these devices.
