    Nokia N800 - Design

The design of the N800 is somewhat similar to its predecessor, although it is a bit slimmer. The N800 also sports a nice kickstand on the back of the device, which supports the tablet nicely on a table top. The casing is all black with a silver face, and it is relatively sleek looking. This device is very portable and lightweight. The N800 measures 2.9 x 5.7 x 0.5 inches, and weighs just over 7 ounces.

The N800 offers a limited amount of buttons and controls on the actual body of the device, as most of the controls are available via the touch-screen. On top of the device is where you will find the power button, full-screen button, and zoom controls, which allow you to zoom in on web pages for easier viewing. The left side of the face sports a back button, menu button and swap button. There is also a 4-way button used for various functions. The right side of the device offers the stylus holder, headphone jack (3.5mm), and a power connector.

A nice design feature of the N800 is the built-in camera on the left spine of the device. This camera pops out from inside the device, and can be swiveled 180 degrees. When you swivel the camera 180 degrees, the N800 will automatically flip the picture over, so that you are not viewing the picture upside down--kind of a cool feature. The camera works great for video calling. As far as I know, the video calling feature only works with people who have an N800. I may be wrong about this, so please clarify this fact in the comments section of this article if you know otherwise.

Viewing the web on the large wide screen display is a great experience thanks to the 800 x 480 resolution and 65,000 colors. The touch-screen display is 4.1 inches in size, and is easily viewable in both bright and dim lighting conditions. Still images look great on the N800's display, and videos run smoothly at 30 frames per second. Tests have shown that videos are a bit choppy at times. YouTube videos are a real problem on the N800; they seemingly run at only 5-10 fps at times, which is pretty much unwatchable.

The N800 has two SD memory expansion slots. One of the expansion slots is located on the bottom of the device, while the other is situated inside the rear panel of the device. The N800 comes with a 128 micro SD card in the interior slot. You can add a total of 4 GB of memory with the two expansion slots.
