Fortunately, the package itself was not particularly hard to open. Unlike so many technology products today, the package was not welded shut with deadly-sharp plastic, requiring a Herculean feat in order to open it.

In addition to the MP3 player module, the package included two (2) battery modules (metallic blue, and pewter), a Velcro strap, a “Read First” guide, a quick start manual, two software CDs, one (1) AAA Battery (alkaline), and a pair of flat, plastic ear bud headphones.

The documentation included in the package is more than enough to get someone up and running in minutes. Luckily, the instructions for use, which comes in 17 languages, were very precise and clear about what not to do: Do not use the Windows “Format” command, use only the MuVo Initializer application to clear the players’ memory, and remember to properly eject the hardware from your computer before just yanking it from your system. Other than that, the documentation is mostly illustrated, with very little reading required. (This goes right in with the ever shortening attention span of this new age. In the Rock age, we didn’t have short manuals. Instruction books were long and arduous. And if you couldn’t get through the badly translated manual, then by golly, you weren’t fit to use the product!)
