    Motorola Renegade V950 - Performance

More often than not, when a phone has an ultra cool look and a variety of bells and whistles, it fails at completing even the most basic of tasks -- like making decent phone calls. Thankfully, that’s not the case for the Motorola Renegade. Once coupled with Sprint service, the V950 is pretty much unstoppable.

You will find that call quality is above average, voices on the other end will sound natural and there’s plenty of volume. Even more importantly, you’ll find a static-free signal. Many phones have a less-than-stellar sounding speakerphone, but the Renegade has an above average sounding speakerphone with a loud volume and a clear sound on both ends of the line.

Let’s not forget that the phone also acts as a video recorder, music player and camera; sadly, the streaming-video quality is a little disappointing. All in all, it looked very choppy and blurry, and though loud and clear, often sound failed to match up with the speaker’s mouths. It seems as if the recorder can’t handle fast movements because upon playback, visible pixels were common.

Music quality and pictures, on the other hand, were much better. The sound clarity for the music was above average and more than satisfactory. The Renegade has powerful speaker output, though a headset would offer the best quality. As stated previously, photo quality was quite good on the whole. The V950’s 2-megapixel camera takes pictures in five resolutions and includes a multitude of editing options such as seven color tones, nine frames, a self timer, adjustable brightness and white balance and a cool new multishot mode.

Overall, Motorola’s new Renegade V950 is a ruggedly handsome new cell phone suitable for those in all walks of life. Whether you need something with a tough exterior that can withstand a lot of action or you’re simply looking for a new phone loaded with the most current and cool features, the Renegade will prove to be a good investment, especially when coupled with Sprint service.
