If you're looking for a cell phone that delivers a solid performance without a lot of fancy extras, keep reading. Both of the mobile devices we'll be reviewing today fit the bill. If you're not currently tied to a contract, the Motorola Quantico and the Samsung SGH-T139 are both worth a look.
Motorola Quantico for US Cellular
The Motorola Quantico is a clamshell phone for US Cellular customers. While its feature set could be a bit on the bland side, its durability and solid build are what should attract some consumers. The Motorola Quantico is currently available for $99.99 after rebates and a two-year contract with US Cellular.
The most standard features of the Motorola Quantico include a vibrating alert, a speakerphone, conference calling, an alarm clock, a standard calculator, a tip calculator, and a stopwatch. A world clock is included in case you travel a lot or just want to find out what the time is across the globe. Organizational features include a calendar and a notepad.
The Quantico's phone book has enough room for up to 1,000 contacts. You can store various phone numbers, email addresses, notes, and more for each contact. Each contact can also be paired with a photo as well as a ringtone. If you are not satisfied with the phone's pre-installed ringtones, you can download more from US Cellular's Easyedge store. Contacts can also be sorted into different groups for easier access. In addition to downloading more ringtones from the Easyedge store, many wallpapers and themes can be purchased to customize the Quantico.
Stepping up a notch in the features department reveals the inclusion of Bluetooth 2.0 with support for profiles such as hands-free kits and more. Besides the Bluetooth, another useful feature of the Quantico is its support of voice commands. If you are on the road a lot for work or enjoy traveling, the Quantico's integrated GPS will most likely come in handy. The phone uses its GPS technology to give you turn-by-turn directions to help prevent you from getting lost when in unfamiliar territory.
If you need to surf the Internet, you can access the web using the phone's WAP 2.0 browser. Just keep in mind that this browser will give you condensed versions of websites rather than the usual full versions you may be accustomed to seeing on your PC or other phones with full HTML browsers. Messaging options include regular text and multimedia messaging, as well as mobile email.
