Motorola Q 9C - A closer look at the phone

Let's start with the screen. It's beautiful. It's 2.4", 65k colors with 320 x 240 resolution, pretty typical for this form factor.

Just down from that are the start button, right button, D-pad, home, back, call and hang-up/power buttons. It's well laid out and isn't too cramped.

Finally, in the front we have the keyboard. It's a full QWERTY keyboard, which makes it great for typing. Some will find the keys too cramped and some will say its fine. Is it a little cramped? Yes, but you have a full keyboard here and you can't get that on a device this small if you don't shrink the keyboard.

On the left we have the MiniSD slot; make sure you get MiniSD cards and not MicroSD cards. Up until recently, MiniSD still had the upper hand over MicroSD because manufacturers had not yet made MicroSD Wi Fi cards. That changed in late October, but availability may still be an issue. Also over here is the miniUSB port, yes! A standardized port.

On the right are a jog dial and a button. I rarely use it, so it's not much of an asset to me.

The back has a 1 MP camera on it with a flash. The flash isn't very powerful, but it is kind of functional.

The battery is a tight fit and sticks out a little. It would have been nice to have the standard battery, but it is nice to not have to worry about it dying.

Overall the phone weighs in at 5.2 ounces, with dimensions of 4.6" x2.6"x.7".

I didn't notice this until about a week into using my device. That little dot in the upper right hand of the screen controls the screen brightness based on the light the dot picks up. It's really nice and works amazingly well.

Inside you will find a GPS chip. This can be used with the included Sprint Navigator, or a third party application. I will talk about my favorite application to use the GPS with later on. The only thing missing from this phone is a Wi Fi connection.
