Mio Moov 310 Review - Performance

According to Bonnie Cha, a CNET editor, the Mio Moov 310 was somewhat slow during its overall operation. The longest lag time occurred when she was entering in addresses, as the system had to catch up with her keystrokes.

However, the Mio Moov 310 did give clear text-to-speech voice directions, which put emphasis on street names rather than generic instructions. The system was also pretty accurate in its directions, though sometimes the unit had trouble processing in areas containing a lot of tall buildings.

As far as the interface, the Mio Moov 310 displays everything with clear, crisp and colorful graphics. Icons are used to indicate points of interest. For example, if there were restaurants in an area, the Mio Moov 310 would let you know by displaying an icon of a fork and a knife over those locations. The system also uses arrows to give you a clearer visual of where you need to turn.

Finally, there's the unit's battery life. At 2.5 hours, you have a limited amount of time in which you can use the Mio Moov 310. So, if you're planning a road trip across the country, you'll want to make sure you charge the unit in between stops.

    Conclusion

All in all, the Mio Moov 310 is a good deal considering its cost. True, it doesn't have outstanding specs or features, but it does what it's supposed to do: provide directions for your destination. The few nuances it provides in the process aren't that big of a deal if you make sure you plan ahead. For example, don't try typing out an address when you're at a stop light. Instead, do it before your trip or when you are at a rest stop. That way you won't have to worry about the lag time as much.
