Mastech 5-in-1 Multimeter Review
Serious about your electronics? Serious about your gardening? I think we may have just the gadget for you today, the Mastech MS8209. It's a 5 in 1 gadget that has you covered no matter what you happen to be measuring or testing. The question is, do you need all this or is it just a little bit of overkill?
Though you may have never heard of Mastech, they have been around for nearly twenty years making quality precision measuring instruments. They make around 100 different models of varying types of instruments, from digital power clamp meters and digital multimeters to AC/DC digital clamp meters and humidity/temperature meters, as well as several other specialized instruments.
Today though, we'll be taking a look at just one of their gadgets--but in that one there seems to be several included. What I mean by that is that the Mastech MS8209 Auto Ranging Multimeter is known officially as the 5-in-1 Meter. It's called 5-in-1 because it not only includes the multimeter functions but also a light sensor, a humidity sensor, a sound sensor, and a temperature sensor. Below are some quick specs on this model.
Specifications:
- DCV: 0 / 400mV / 4V / 40V / 400V / 600V +- 0.7%
- ACV: 0V / 4V / 40V / 400V / 60V +- 1.0% (True RMS)
- DCA: 40mA / 400mA / 10A +-0.5%
- ACA: 40mA / 400mA / 10A +-1.5%
- Ohm: 400 / 4K / 40K / 400K / 4M / 40M +-1.2%
- Capacitance: 4nF / 40nF / 400nF / 4uF / 40uF / 200uF
- Frequency: 9.999Hz / 99.99Hz / 999.9Hz / 9.999KHz / 99.99KHz / 199.9KHz - 200KHz +- 0.5%
- Duty Cycle: 0.1 -99.9% +-3.0%
- Temp: -20 oC - 1000 oC +- 1.0% (Two Ranges)
- Humidity (RH): 30 - 90 %
- Sound Level: 35 - 100 dB (0.1dB/3.5%)
- Luminance: Lux (4,000) - 10X Lux( 40,000) 5.0%
- Function Transform: DC/AC selectable
- Range Transform: Auto ranging and manual ranging selectable
There's nothing insanely impressive about these multimeter specs except for the four things I've italicized. These four things are what makes this a 5-in-1 multimeter, and also one that stands above the monotonous crowd of other plain old multimeters.
