    Magellan RoadMate 1200

Today we will take a look at a GPS unit that is fairly new to the market and has a low price tag: the Magellan RoadMate 1200. It does have a cheap price tag, but does it still have the features and performance that would make it worthwhile? Keep reading to find out.

Today's hottest gift is the Global Positioning System (GPS). Their prices have fallen like a rock. The features that now come on GPSes make your typical GPS found at places like Best Buy and Circuit City great gifts for anyone that drives a car. A new market that was previously weak has cropped up in the past few months. These are the low end units.

This is my first time owning and using a GPS system. I wanted to find a simple to use, inexpensive unit that would guide me to my destination as fast as possible and be able to tell me where the closest stores are. I am currently away from home at college, so I’m not familiar with the stores and locations. For example, when I went to the local Giant Eagle grocery store, I literally spent 45 minutes going up and down a road looking for where to turn only to find out that the store's name had been changed since the last time Mapquest updated.
