    MP3 Players Under $50

There are lots of reasons why you might be in the market to buy an MP3 player. Your previous model may have broken, crushed under the wheel of a tire in the driveway, or perhaps become the victim of a fall down a flight of stairs. You may have never had an MP3 player before, so this is your first time shopping for one. Whether it's for you or someone else, you're in luck, because these devices are cheaper than ever. Check out our list, and then don't forget to read our advice on where to get some great music for your new player (there's a lot more than iTunes out there!).

It's also possible, by the way, that you are not even buying this MP3 player for yourself. Maybe it’s a gift for a friend, or maybe you have simply succumbed to the endless stream of, “Mommy, I want an MP3 player. I want an MP3 player. I want an MP3 player!” No matter what the case is, you have decided to take the plunge into the world of digital music players.

You should be happy, because in addition to just investing in a brand-new piece of technology, you’re doing something good for the planet. Now, I know you probably never thought of it that way, but getting an MP3 player means an end your dependence on CDs. CDs, like every other physical good in this world, use up our natural resources.

It takes a sizable amount of energy and materials to create all the CDs you see in the average store. In addition, those CDs have to make it from the place where they were made, to the place where you buy them, somehow, and that is by truck. So what that really means when you give up CDs, is that you are giving up the environmental costs associated with creating and shipping your music. Not to mention you also don’t contribute to your country’s landfill problems with an MP3, because there is no packaging to be discarded -- to say nothing of the gas and carbon expended to get to the store to get your music.

Of course, let’s not forget to mention that getting an MP3 onto your player gives us the thing we all really seem to want, instant gratification. We all love getting what we want with no delay, yet it happens all too few times in life. You don’t really get an instant tax return, or see how your investments will play out in the first 10 minutes.

You should be getting instant gratification somewhere, so why not with your MP3 player? At least that kind of instant gratification won’t pass on any extra calories. The joy of clicking on the button and having your music a minute later is much better than having to get in your car, drive to store, find what you want, wait in line and drive back home.
