LG Tritan - Display and touch screen

The front of the Tritan is dominated by its three-inch touch-screen display with 240x2400 resolution which produces clear, crisp graphics that are easy on the eyes. As you rotate the Tritan to adjust viewing angles, the built-in accelerometer automatically switches between portrait and landscape mode.

One cool feature of the Tritan’s design is that it offers four different home screens that you can customize to your liking. There is the default home screen, the widgets home screen which contains applications, the multimedia screen which houses media files, and the contacts home screen that manages all of your contacts separately.

The Tritan’s touch-screen uses haptic feedback in the form of vibrations to let you know that you have made a selection on the screen. You can adjust the strength and length of this vibration, although it may take a little bit of trial and error to get it just right.

Overall, it's neat that the Tritan's screen can handle touch, but it's not one of the most responsive touch-screens on the market. You can dial phone numbers on it, and the numbers are easy to read. The same goes for typing messages, and you have the option of using the tedious T9 format or switching to a virtual full QWERTY keyboard in landscape mode.

Beneath the touch screen are physical talk/end keys, a back key, as well as a handy little joystick that you can use to scroll web pages and other items. While a nice tool to have, the joystick is a bit small and hard to get to since it is sunken into the phone.

If using the touch-screen isn’t your thing, you can simply slide the phone open to the right to use its physical full QWERTY keyboard. Many might prefer this traditional keyboard as opposed to the touch-screen, which has a tendency to get slippery and erroneously select unwanted features. The keys on the physical QWERTY keyboard are sufficient in size and raised for easy access.

If you are on a budget and want a lot of phone for your money, the LG Tritan is hard to beat. Its dual capability of both touch-screen input and a full QWERTY keyboard is a nice luxury, and so is the feature set that accompanies the phone.
