Today we'll look at a pair of messaging-focused cell phones, the LG Remarq for Sprint and the Samsung Messager Touch SCH-R630 for U.S. Cell. If you send text messages far more often than you make phone calls, one of these might make sense as your next mobile device.

The LG Remarq is a compact, eco-friendly phone for Sprint subscribers. It comes equipped with a solid set of features, as well as a design that should appeal to those who enjoy messaging. The Remarq is free after rebates and a two-year contract from Sprint.

The standard features of the Remarq include a speaker phone, a vibrate mode, a stopwatch, an alarm clock, a standard calculator, and a tip calculator. Those who travel the world or work with overseas clients can make use of the phone's world clock and unit converter. To help you keep organized, there is a calendar and a notepad.

The Remarq's phone book can hold up to 600 contacts. You can input multiple phone numbers, email addresses, notes, and more for each contact. Contacts can be sorted into groups, and be given a photo and a ringtone. If you do not like the standard polyphonic ringtones that come with the phone, you can download more from Sprint. Sprint also offers downloads to customize the phone's appearance in the form of wallpapers and themes.

In addition to the standard calculator and the tip calculator, an Eco calculator is also included. This feature coincides with the Remarq's “going green” theme. The Eco calculator will measure your estimated carbon usage and give you statistics, such as how to reduce it by walking instead of driving, etc. This is a cute feature to have if you are extremely conscious about the environment.
