LG Decoy Review - Multimedia for the Masses

The LG Decoy is full of video and multimedia features as well: retooled V-Cast support, VZ Navigator, EV-DO, a 2.0 mega-pixel camera with image editor (1600x1200 default, 1280x960, 640x480, 320x240 Pixels), digital camcorder and vast playback functionality for audio or video (MP3, WMA, and AAC files, plus protected WMA files). The main display of the unit is 2.2 inches large, at 240 x 320 pixels, using 262 144 colors, TFT.

The Decoy uses 65MB of internal memory, leaving the user plenty of space to store multimedia, games, photos, recordings and songs. This might account for the larger size of the unit, which weighs 4.0 oz (115 g) at a size of 4.0 x 2.0 x 0.7 inches (102 x 50 x 17 mm). Other interesting features are a powerful calculator, navigation software, and micro SD memory port with up to 8GB support, providing vast portable memory.

The price of the Decoy is in line with any other medium quality phone available at Verizon, so it is priced decently, or so you are led to believe at face value. As a new phone, on a newly established account, this phone makes a lot of sense. After an online discount of $50, the new Decoy only costs roughly $179.99. So that scenario I can live with and think it's a great deal.

But where most of us end up, and a huge reason I absolutely do not like Verizon, is because we have already been "lucky" enough to be given our phone when we signed up for our account. So, since we are already in the "family," our expected price is more like $400, which to me is completely unacceptable and thus begins my main problem (rant) with Verizon and their distribution of the LG Decoy.

Frankly, the only things I don't like about the Decoy are the inherent Bluetooth quality issues mentioned above, and the fact we see Verizon sitting right in the middle of the buying process, and as you know, that's sure to cost you ;)
