LG Dare Cell Phone - Touch Screen and Layout

The screen, while small, does churn out 262,000 colors and a 240x400 resolution. Text is clear, colors stand out, and it is a joy to look at. As with other phones, you can change the wallpaper to your liking (it can even be animated), as well as the fonts and the display themes.

Besides the display, the only other buttons on the front of the phone are located at the bottom in the form of the Call, Clear/Voice command, and the End/Power keys. Rounding out the LG Dare's layout is a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top, volume and camera on its right spine, and the camera lens on the back. The left spine of the Dare houses a USB charging jack, a speakerphone key, a microSD card slot (finally one that is not located behind the battery!) and a Hold key.

The touch screen of the LG Dare is pretty user friendly, although it can tend to be a bit too sensitive to the touch at times. When you tap the screen you can feel a small vibration, letting you know that contact and input was made. One excellent feature of the touch screen is that you can adjust the intensity of the vibrations given when using the screen in terms of their length and strength. If you choose to, you can even turn off the vibrations altogether.

Texting and dialing on the LG Dare is a breeze thanks to its large buttons. When texting, there are a few different input modes to accommodate different tastes. You can use the T9 keypad, as in conventional phones, although I do not know who would choose this tedious method. Even better is the full QWERTY keyboard on the LG Dare for quick and familiar inputting when texting that appears when you rotate the phone counterclockwise 90 degrees. Along with the responsive vibrations, as you type on the keyboard, each letter you touch will magnify to assure you that you pressed the correct one.

You can even copy and paste text, something the iPhone can't do. If you have long fingernails or a stylus, you can hand write onto the screen (as long as your handwriting isn't horrific like a doctor's) and the Dare will interpret your writing and convert it into text. This is a great feature for super fast texting on the go.
