Kyocera Slider SE47 Cell Phone Review - Design
(Page 2 of 4 )
Given that there are a lot of cellular handset manufacturers out there trying to compete with each other, it makes it difficult to come up with an innovative design that would attract a consumer, while still retaining low cost and good quality. The Kyocera SE-47 is designed for CDMA networks primarily used by Verizon Wireless, Sprint PCS and Virgin Mobile. We will be looking at the Verizon Wireless model today which is a Dual-Band handset operating on CDMA 800/1900.
When you first look at the phone you are a little puzzled by the design, since the display takes up almost the whole front leaving a little space for keys on the bottom. As opposed to all the regular flip-phones that we are all used to, it slides apart revealing the keypad on the other half of the phone underneath the display. When the phone is in the closed position you are still able to see the Caller ID of the person calling. This makes the phone compact, yet still gives you a solid feel of a flip phone when open.

While attractive and small, it does pose a few problems, such as making it difficult to keep the phone's display from getting scratched and accidentally hitting the "End" button when it is ringing in your purse/pocket, which will inevitably mute the ringer and send the caller to your Voicemail service.
The buttons on the top half are positioned very well and are easy to operate, however if you have large fingers, it may be a problem for you when using the numeric keypad. The keys are made in such a manner not to obstruct the sliding of two halves of the phone, almost flush with the surface.
