Jensen NVX225 GPS - Other Options

    Other GPS Devices From Jensen

The Jensen NVX225 may not be the right choice for you, but Jensen does have other GPS units.

They offer a tablet PC with a seven-inch screen, 256 MB, 30 GB hard drive, Wi-Fi, built-in GPS. This model is called the Jensen NVX3000PC, and if the NVX225 wasn't enough for you, this device surely will be. It runs Windows XP as the OS, and features full GPS capabilities. This is more of an all-in-one device, and not just a GPS unit. This unit will run you over $1,000, so start saving your pennies.

A step up from the NVX225 is the Jensen NVX430BT. This device has many of the features that the NVX225 does not. This unit features a larger 4.3 inch touch-screen, Bluetooth capability, TTS, and all the other features of its younger brother. This GPS unit will be available soon (and may be available already) with a very attractive price tag of about $279. I would much rather spend the extra $100 and get the NVX430BT over the NVX225. The TTS feature is worth the extra money alone, because it is really a safety feature more than anything.

If you want to save even more money, you could opt for the Jensen NVX200 which is a step down from the NVX225. The NVX200 is largely the same GPS device as the NVX225, but with a couple of differences. One difference is the price, while the other is that this model only has 1.7 million POIs in its database, while the NVX225 has 3.75 million. The price of the NVX200 is a tad less than the NVX225 at about $179.

    Final Thought

Although the Jensen NVX225 comes with a budget-friendly price tag, there are better alternative GPS units out there to consider. The Mio C230 is in the same price range, and it is an all-around better GPS device. This Mio offers TTS, and the Jensen model does not. I will be doing a full review of the Mio C230 very soon, so stay tuned for that.

As I said at the beginning of this review, I cannot recommend this device in the $200 price range. If you can somehow find one for around $150 I may consider it a good deal, but at $200 you are better off looking elsewhere.
