    HTC Diamond

The iPod is a household name now, and the iPhone is rapidly joining it in that regard. The iPhone isn't the only smart phone with a touch screen, however. Many companies are getting the hint that consumers want this on their cell phones and MP3 players. Today we are going to take a look at one of these devices, the Diamond by HTC.

Who is HTC? If you live in America, you probably haven't heard of them. They are more popular in Europe than here, but they sell lots of phones all over the world.

HTC phones are typically called by different names and under different brands in the US. Have you ever heard of the AT&T Tilt, T-Mobile Wing and Shadow, Sprint Mogul, and all the Touch devices?  Even thought they are sold by different providers and under a different name, they are all made by HTC.

As you can see, HTC dominates the smart phone market outside of the iPhone. The HTC Diamond, the device we're reviewing today, is the next generation of the successful HTC Touch.

     Specifications

The device is powered by a 528 MHz Qualcomm CPU.  It runs Windows Mobile 6.1, the newest version of Windows Mobile. I would be shocked if a version of Windows Mobile 7 doesn't make its way onto this device in the future.

HTC doesn't just throw the OS on there and ship it.  As you can see by the picture, HTC likes to modify the OS some and make it user friendly. They have included their TouchFlow 3D.  It adds an easy-to-use interface designed for your finger, and a new layout to the home screen.

This version of the software is updated from the original generation of the Touch.  People seem to like it overall, since some of the Windows Mobile design features can make it difficult to maneuver things with your finger. All of your traditional phone stuff can be accessed from the home screen, such as contacts, missed calls, pictures, texts, appointments and more.

I would like to see the next version of Windows Mobile on this phone. Now, let's move on to the rest of the device.
