HTC Cavalier S630 Review - Performance

The call and speaker phone quality were okay, but could have been better. Voices do sound a bit muffled, but they aren't too bad. HTC has had better sounding devices in their previous models, in my opinion, but this one is still average when it comes to call quality and sound.

The S630 really shines when it comes to speedy processing. The upgraded 400 MHz processor makes a big difference in speeds between the S630 and its predecessor. Navigating through the menu system is a breeze, and the Internet is even relatively fast. The speed of this device will probably be a big selling point for it, because nobody likes to sit and wait for things to load on their smart phone; everyone wants things done fast.

Watching movies and video clips with this device is a good experience, although extended periods of watching the small screen can start to strain the eyes. The video quality is above average, and the smoothness of the video is very nice. The built-in music player is average, with below average sound through the built-in speaker. Using the included headset will produce much better sound than just listening to music through the internal speaker of the phone.

Battery life in this phone is okay. The wireless options available tend to drain the battery extensively, so limited use of the Bluetooth, 3G, and Wi-Fi will extend the battery life drastically. The manufacturer rates the battery life at six hours of talk time and eight days of stand-by.

Overall, this phone is a good performer and should be in the top three of anyone's list of smart phones. The swift processing speeds of this phone will give it a slight advantage over much of the competition.
