HTC Cavalier S630 Review - Features

The S630 has a host of features which most smart phone shoppers are looking for. Let's start out with the software in this phone. It's Windows Mobile 6 Standard, which is easy to use; I enjoy it very much. This is the latest edition of Windows Mobile.

The processor in this smart phone is an ultra-fast 400 MHz processor with 128 MB of built-in ROM and 64 MB of RAM. Owners of the S630 can also add additional memory via the microSD slot. The processor in the S630 is twice as fast as the Dash's 200 MHz processor, and makes a big difference in the performance.

On the multimedia side of things, the S630 is capable of taking pictures, playing video and music, or playing games. The 2.0 mega-pixel camera works well for a camera phone, and features 8x digital zoom. One of these days, we will see optical zoom in a camera phone. It does not have a built-in flash, but it does have a lot of customization options such as in-camera editing, white balance adjustments, and various special effects. The camera also has a built-in timer. It will take video with sound in the following formats: MPEG4, Motion JPEG, or H.263.

The integrated music player also works well with this device.  You can enjoy music in the following formats: AAC, MP3, WAV, WMA, MPEG4, and WMV. The S630 comes equipped with a nice music player application included in the Windows Mobile 6 software.

Wireless connectivity is an important feature in the S630. As I mentioned before, the S630 supports 3G speeds which are broadband speeds. This device is also Wi-Fi enabled (802.11b/g) so you can pick up wireless Internet signals in your favorite "hotspot." Rounding out the wireless options, this device is Bluetooth 2.0 enabled so the user can use their favorite wireless headset as well as share files with other users.

This device has all of the features you would need to keep yourself organized including a calender, notepad, calculator, and messaging options. This is one of the only phones available right now which will display HTML emails just as they would appear on your PC.  You may also view other text, PDF, or Word documents thanks to the included software. All in all, this phone would make a great travel companion for the busy businessman or woman.

The S630 comes equipped with the following items in the box:

    • Car  charger
    • AC  adapter
    • USB  cable
    • Wired  headset
    • CD ROM and reference materials
