HTC Cavalier S630 Review - Design
HTC has designed this phone to look a bit boxy, especially when you compare
it to its predecessor which has smoother curves. On paper, the two smart phones have the same dimensions with the official measurements of the S630 being 4.4 x 2.5 x 0.5 inches. The S630 weighs in at a very light 4.2 ounces. The size of this smart phone will allow it to fit into larger pockets, but it is not the most compact smart phone that I have seen.

The S630 sports an attractive black and silver brushed finish; no word yet on whether it will be available in other color schemes. The device itself feels very durable, and it even has some nice rubber pads on the rear panel to protect it when you set it down. You get the feeling that this phone is built for the long haul just by holding it.
This phone features a nice-sized 2.4 inch LCD screen with over 65,000 colors and 240 x 320 pixel resolution. The display shows sharp and colorful images and video, and the screen is easily visible under normal as well as brightly-lit conditions.
Below the screen, you will find some navigation buttons as well as the full QWERTY keyboard. The keyboard buttons have no spacing on the sides but they do have spacing on the top and the bottom. The keyboard will work sufficiently for people with large hands, but it may take some getting used to. I recommend that anyone in the market for a smart phone, especially those with larger hands, check out the prospective phone in person before they buy it online to make sure the keyboard will work for them.
The back of the device sports the 2.0 mega-pixel camera, which is an upgrade to the Dash's 1.3 mega-pixel camera. The speaker is also located on the rear of the device. The top of the S630 sports the mini USB connector which is used to sync the device, charge it, and plug in headphones.
The left side of the S630 is where the power button, voice recorder button, and microSD slot are located. The opposite side of the device holds the camera button as well as HTC's Jogger controls. The Jogger is a touch-sensitive strip that controls volume as well as scrolling through the menu system with ease. This Jogger control can be a bit sensitive at times, but I imagine that it would just need some getting used to in order to work effectively.
Near the Jogger control, HTC has placed two buttons which, when each is double-clicked, will take the user out of the menus or open your message folder.

I liked the design of the S630 a lot, but I did have a few issues with it. The keys on the keyboard could have been a bit larger for my taste, and the design of
the phone could have been a little less boxy. Other than that, this phone has a great look and feel which will impress most people.
