Garmin Nuvi 880 Portable GPS Device - Features

The Garmin Nuvi 880 comes with some of the most impressive features to date. The device is preloaded with City Navigator NT maps of North America, which can be viewed in either 2D or 3D. For a closer view, a plus and minus icon on the map allows you to zoom in and out, and for a better understanding of the status of your trip, the trip information page displays your speed, direction and trip time. Aside from the visual aids, there is also the much-talked about speech recognition capabilities that will give you voice guided turn-by-turn directions. Speaking of voice recognition ...

As stated previously, the Nuvi 880 can perform 30 functions through voice recognition, which include, but arenotlimited to: adjusting the system volume, activating the hands-free speaker system, entering addresses, viewing the trip computer and accessing MSN Direct Services, which comes free of charge for the first three months service.

MSN Direct Services enables you to receive instant traffic and weather updates, movie listings and fuel price listings, and gives you the ability to plan your trip from your PC viaWindows Live Localand have it sent wirelessly to your Nuvi 880. After the allotted three months, you must subscribe to the service, which costs about fifty dollars a month.

When planning a trip, you can enter a specific address, select from a possible list of up to 500 of your personally chosen favorite locations, or choose an integrated POI (point of interest) which contains all of the basic categories often found on GPS devices such as gas stations, lodging, ATMs, and restaurants capable of being narrowed down by cuisine type.

Similar to otherrecentNuvi Devices, the 880 has the "Where am I?" feature, which allows you to view the exact coordinates of your location, the closest addresses and the nearest intersections. For many consumers, owning a GPS device allows them peace of mind, especially in unfamiliar locations or in the case of emergency. The Nuvi 880 is here to put your mind at ease, as it is equipped to list the closest hospitals, police stations and gas stations, and to comfort youeven further, you can contact these services directly with your Nuvi 880 navigation system, because, as mentioned previously, it has integrated Bluetooth.
