Garmin Nuvi 755T - Performance
The author of GPSLodge.com tested the Garmin Nuvi 755T in the Boston area. He thought it worked pretty well, especially when he was on his way to Logan Airport (where he had to use the highway). To him, the 755T's Lane Assist feature made driving a lot easier.
The blogger also thought it was pretty nifty being able to select locations based on real photographs. Not only did it make things a little easier, but it also increased his anticipation.
However, he did have one complaint. When the Garmin Nuvi 755T is not used for navigation, various advertisements will pop up on the screen. These ads, while a bit annoying, help fund the traffic alerting service the 755T offers. This allows customers to use the service without having to pay a cent in subscription fees. With that in mind, the author of GPSLodge.com was able to deal with the ads. Sure, he would have preferred it if they weren't there, but who could complain when you're getting free traffic alerts? Besides, even he considered the ads "unobtrusive."
Conclusion
In my opinion, I believe the Garmin Nuvi 755T is the GPS device of the future. Why? Well, it is one of the few systems that displays directions in a more realistic format... at least if you're using the Lane Assist feature. In fact, even its "regular" mapping features are pretty innovative. I love the idea of being able to see your directions on a 3-D mapping grid over the 2-D approach most GPS systems use.
As far as Garmin Connect, I have to agree with GPSLodge.com. Sure, navigating by picture is not a major feature, but it does help build your excitement, even if it's on a subconscious level. Plus, it gives you a "preview" of what you can expect when you get to your destination.
Now, when it comes to the ads, I myself have never been offended by a few advertisements. In fact, if you do happen to find an ad that's interesting, the 755T will alert you to locations selling that item. This can be really convenient when you're shopping for hard-to-find merchandise.
But anyway, if you are the type that prefers an ad-free environment, you may want to consider using another system. However, keep in mind one major fact: other GPS systems will charge you monthly fees for traffic alerts; the Garmin Nuvi 755T charges you nothing. Plus, you also get access to the Nuvi's more unique features (which are not widely accessible on other systems).
With that being said, if you don't mind the ads and the expensive price tag, I highly recommend the Garmin Nuvi 755T. Not only is it portable, but it is also trendy, both in function and design.
