Garmin Nuvi 205W GPS - Extras and Design

Beyond the navigational features, the Garmin Nuvi 205W does have a few extras. On the more practical side, there is a currency and unit converter, which is helpful for those in the country on vacation; a world clock, which aids those suffering from jet lag or that are homesick; and a calculator.

On the more fun side, there is a picture viewer that allows you to view JPEGs on the 205W that can be imported via SD card.

On the possibly downright silly side, there is a feature on the Garmin website that allows you to download new vehicle icons in addition to the ones already loaded on the GPS to customize your navigational experience.

The design of the Garmin Nuvi 205W is about as simple as it could be, and that is fine. The 205W measures 4.8 inches wide by 2.9 inches tall by 0.8 inches thick.

The front of the device is dominated by a 4.3 inch touch screen color display with 480x272 resolution. The display produces bright, colorful images, and you can also read it in the sometimes irritating bright sunlight without a problem.

The 205W is small enough to fit easily into a pocket for those who choose to use the device on foot or want to prevent theft. The 205W can be mounted to the windshield with the included suction cup or to the dashboard with an included adhesive disk. The 205W mounts easily, although the cradle it sits in when mounted could be considered a bit bulky.

Besides the touch screen, and the power/lock buttons, the Nuvi 205W also has a mini USB port and an SD card slot.
