Extending the Blackberry - FlowFinity Wireless

FlowFinity Forms Server, which is shown in Figure 14-20, is a plug-and-play application that uses Thinflow technology, enabling online and offline access to enterprise applications for businesses. FlowFinity Forms Server collects information such as sales leads, market surveys, product orders, time tracking, customer service requests, expense reports, and other data entered into the various forms available. You can then publish a form over-the-air automatically to each BlackBerry user so they can collect the desired information and plug it into the form. The form is then sent back to the enterprise network where it can be used with Microsoft Excel or stored in a database. A number of products work with this software, and you can learn more about them at http://www.flowfinity.com.

    WebFOCUS

Information Builders’ WebFOCUS, shown in Figure 14-21, is a suite of business intelligence tools that work with e-business solutions. For example, WebFOCUS’s mobile solution TellMe By Email can send scheduled and alert reports via e-mail to BlackBerry handhelds. BlackBerry users can then work with the reports and send requests back asking for additional reports or information.

    Octanewave Wireless Platform

Octanewave, shown in Figure 14-22, provides an additional user interface for the BlackBerry for the purpose of moving enterprise data seamlessly across any network. BlackBerry users can access data, manage it, and move it, just as they would using a PC.

    Consilient2

Consilient2, shown in Figure 14-23, is a wireless enterprise solution that extends Novell GroupWise, Sun ONE Messaging, and Oracle Collaboration Suite to any BlackBerry. Consilient2 works with BlackBerry by using the Mobile Data Service feature of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server to provide access to corporate e-mail, calendar, and address books. Using Consilient2, you can also access database applications and other corporate features through the supported messaging systems.

    Covigo Mobile Platform

Covigo enables software vendors and system integrators to create various applications that use voice, wireless connections, the Internet, and even offline services without having to create separate applications for each type of carrier. Convigo solutions are built on standards such as J2EE, J2ME, xHTML, and VoiceXML, and design patterns such as Model-View-Controller. Find out more at http://www.covigo.com.

    Cysive Cymbio Interactive Server

The Cymbio Interaction Server provides an integrated platform for developing and deploying enterprise applications that use different communication channels or mediums. With Cymbio, you can develop solutions that integrate the Web, wireless access, and voice applications using the BlackBerry. You can learn more by going to http://www.cysive.com.

    Dejima Direct Enterprise

Dejima Direct, shown in Figure 14-24, is a software package that provides direct access to enterprise applications through e-mail and the wireless Internet. With this service, BlackBerry users have direct access to near real-time data and transactions. Dejima users simply type their request into an e-mail or wireless portal and the requested data or resulting action is delivered to them.

    OneBridge Extended Systems

Extended Systems, shown in Figure 14-25, is a platform that can help your business implement mobile technology. Extended Systems OneBridge mobile platform delivers enterprise applications, such as Siebel, SAP, and Tibco to BlackBerry handhelds. The platform works with BlackBerry Enterprise Server’s Mobile Data Service feature to enable your enterprise to use existing applications and processes with the BlackBerry and the wireless network.
