    Dolphin Swimmer Underwater MP3 Player

The all new Dolphin Swimmer MP3 player by Nu-Global (based in Taiwan) is not the first underwater player to enter the market, but it does offer some new technology. The Dolphin Swimmer is a very well-designed player for swimmers and surfers, but it is not a perfect player for these applications. Read on to see how this item fared.

The simple and lightweight design of this player is nice, but issues may arise when it comes to the ear buds falling out during vigorous water activities.  Nu-Global claims that the design of the ear buds will help stop them from falling out during a vigorous swim or while surfing by utilizing a silicone ear plug design.  They also say that the ear buds and the player itself both comply with the IPx7 international water resistant standards.

Although the Swimmer is an underwater player, it isn't made for scuba diving or other deeper diving.  It is designed for shallow water and for splashing water.  Nu-Global does not list the maximum depth that this player will go underwater, so I would assume it is not very deep.  Just to be safe, I would not go too deep with this player in the water.  Besides, going to deep underwater and breaking the player would probably void the warranty.  Nu-Global has provided a 1 year warranty on the player, and a 3 month warranty on the included headphones.

Though this player is aimed at only a select number of people who are looking for a waterproof MP3 player, I like its simplicity as well as some of the cool technology integrated into this little beauty.  I like the idea of having some music to help you train in the water or even while you are sitting in the spa.  This player would also be great for joggers who run in the rain, because they wouldn't have to worry about protecting the player from the rain.  Though this player has a few loose ends, it is a step in the right direction for waterproof MP3 players.  Moreover, the $100 price tag of the 1 GB model is not that bad of a deal for this type of technology.
