Dell Axim x51v PDA Review - The Good

    The Good

So far I am extremely impressed with the device overall. The speed is fantastic. The wireless is liberating. The video playback allows me to waste even more time watching TV and movies on public transit on the way to work, instead of doing something productive like reading!

Now that I have the Axim, I’m getting lazy. I’m starting to feel that my ThinkPad laptop is too bulky to carry around! I have found it to be incredibly useful for checking & responding to email, browsing select websites, listening to music, listening to music in the car (I bought an FM Transmitter), watching videos, taking notes, recording discourses, reminding me of my To-do’s for the day/week, and reading the morning news on my Avantgo channels.

The form is sleek, people ‘Ooh’ and ‘Aah’ any time I show it to them. Without the Aluminum case, it is actually quite small, but does not feel flimsy.

Both SD and Compact Flash cards can be used for storage, or as an add-on GPS system through SD-IO. So storage space will never be a constraint.

Windows Mobile 2005 comes with a number of enhancements, including automatic CPU throttling, an essential tool for anyone concerned about battery life.

The UI is entirely skinnable. You can purchase 3rd party themes, or you can build your own.
