Cricket MSGM8 and the Cricket LG Helix

Are you looking for a simple cell phone to take care of some basic needs? If those needs include texting, you may want to check out the Cricket MSGM8. If your needs are even simpler than that, the Cricket LG Helix might be the phone for you. Keep reading for a closer look.

    Cricket MSGM8 cell phone

The Cricket MSGM8 is a cell phone from Cricket Communications that is aimed at messaging fans.

In fact, look at its name and you can see that it translates to "Message Mate" in somewhat of a cryptic fashion. It comes with very little flair in terms of design or features, but it does succeed in giving Cricket customers an option for quick messaging capability in a phone. The Cricket MSGM8 is currently available for approximately $120.

The most basic features of the Cricket MSGM8 include a speakerphone, an alarm clock, a standard calculator, a tip calculator, and a stop watch. World travelers can make use of the phone's unit converter and world clock. Organizational tools include a calendar and a memo pad. There is also a voice recorder so you can keep all of your important thoughts handy.

You can store up to 1,000 contacts in the MSGM8's phone book and input several phone numbers, email addresses, and other data for each. You can arrange your contacts into groups and allocate a ringtone and a photo for each. If you don't like the six standard polyphonic ringtones that come on the phone, you can download more as well from Cricket. The MSGM8 can also be further customized by downloading wallpapers and themes from the carrier.

Moving up in the complexity of the features we find Bluetooth so you can connect the phone to other Bluetooth-enabled devices without the need for wires. The MSGM8 supports voice commands too. You can surf the Internet while on the go using the phone's web browser. Some entertainment is included in the way of game demos that come pre-installed on the phone, such as Super Street Fighter 2, among others. For messaging, you get the standard text and multimedia messaging, in addition to Cricket Mobile Email that allows you to receive your email messages directly on the MSGM8.
