Creative Zen Vision Review - Features

The Creative Zen Vision:M connects to your PC via the Sync Adapter which plugs into the bottom of the player and into the USB socket of your computer. Luckily, the adapter is included in the purchase of the player. The player charges through the USB port, eliminating the need for any other bulky cords when traveling.

Regarding the abundance of features, the Creative Zen Vision:M beats the iPod hands down. Unlike the iPod, the Vision:M boasts an FM radio tuner which allows you to record stations and to fill as many of the 32 preset slots as you wish. You can also manually add presets with their own custom labels. Recording a broadcast is as simple as holding the Play/Pause button. If you need some visual stimulation while listening to your favorite radio station, the Zen Vision:M even allows you to view your photos to pass the time. You can choose to view the photos individually, or as a slide show. If you enjoy thinking out loud, Creative also supplies users with a voice recorder for those "I cannot forget this idea" moments.

Unlike the iPod, which limits you to the iTunes Music Store, the Creative Zen Vision:M supports DRM-protected WMA files. This allows you to fill your player with songs purchased and downloaded from a wide variety of online music stores. This flexibility is an ideal feature for those users that like to shop around for their music. For those who have a pre-existing library filled with content, copying those files to the Zen Vision:M is a breeze, since the player supports a larger variety of video formats than its counterpart, such as DivX, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, WMV, Xvid, and others. The powerful software that accompanies the Zen Vision:M automatically converts any incompatible files each time you synchronize.

More of the Creative Zen Vision:M's all in one capability shines through with its Sync Manager, which allows you to copy your contacts, appointments, and tasks from Microsoft Outlook. A downside of this feature is that it is a one-way transfer, and you must sync each time you want the newest information from Outlook. There is no option to edit or sort the data once it is in the player. Another downside is that there is no way to password protect this information in the event that your player falls into the hands of another person.
