Creative Zen Vision Review - The Screen and Ease of Use
(Page 2 of 4 )

One aspect where the ever-popular iPod cannot compete with the Creative Zen Vision:M is its screen. While both have 2.5 inch, 320x240 pixel LCDs, the Vision:M boasts an astounding 262,000 colors as opposed to the iPod's 65,000. The viewing angles, color, and brightness of the Zen Vision:M far outshine those of the iPod. At times it is as if the images literally jump off the screen. Video playback is silky smooth, unlike other personal video players which tend to blur images.
The ease with which one can use the Creative Zen Vision:M cannot be denied. It provides its users with just four user-friendly function buttons consisting of Play/Pause, Menu, Back, and Shortcut. The buttons light up a nice blue color and react well to the touch. All scrolling and point/click activity is also audible.
The touch pad of the Zen Vision:M is vertical and is used similar to a touch pad on a notebook. To select an option simply run your finger up and down the pad. At first it's a bit difficult to land on the desired selection, but after a short while it became second nature.
The Vision:M's shuttle controls flank the touch pad to the left and right and were very well designed as they take up little space. The Vision:M's interface is customizable and as easy to use as the iPod. Users can add or remove menu items as well as change background colors as they wish. Photos can also be used to change up the background display from time to time.
Perhaps the best feature of the Vision:M's interface is the Shortcut button. The Shortcut button can be configured to represent a common function of your choice, such as adding new tracks to a playlist, randomly playing songs, start or stop a recording, and many other options.
