Bluetake i-PHONO Plus BT420Rx-C Bluetooth Headset - Pairing the Headphones

Now, I’ve had a few Bluetooth devices before, and have successfully paired them with no problem, so I tried to pair the dongle with the headset without reading the instructions.  After 2 or 3 unsuccessful tries, I hung my head and went for the manual.  On page 14, I found these instructions:

Before you start to use the i-PHONO PLUS headphone with the compatible Bluetooth device such as a stereo dongle, computer, mobile phone, PDA, etc., please pair the headphone with the compatible Bluetooth device in advance.

Step-1: If headphone is already on, please disconnect all Bluetooth services between the headphone and other devices.  Then, turn off the headphone.

Step-2: Turn on the headphone.  then, press and hold the Multi-functional button of headphone for 2 seconds, and the Status Indicator of headphone will flash Blue and Red alternately; meanwhile, the headphone is in the pairing mode.

After the pairing is completed, the Status indicator of headphone will flash Blue regularly.

This was pretty much what I did, except I didn’t put the headphones into pairing mode before the dongle.  So I tried it again.  And again.  On the third try, I got it.  I think the trick was you had to do them both within a few seconds to get them to recognize each other.  The good news is once you pair them, they stay paired even when you turn them both off and back on again.

One of the features of this model is that you can switch between 2 audio sources.  For example, you can be listening to music on your mp3 player, and switch to a call on your Bluetooth phone, and back to your music again when done.  This is pretty cool, and I wanted to try it out.

So I took my Bluetooth cell phone and paired it with the headphones.  This pairing was very simple, and they connected on the first try.  This could be because the cell phone is a little more sophisticated than the little one-button Bluetooth dongle.
