Bluetake Bluetooth Headphones and iPod Transmitter (BT450Rx-C) Review - Connecting to a Bluetooth Cell
(Page 4 of 5 )
As a Bluetooth cell phone to pair with the headset, I am using a Motorola RAZR. What I am aiming for is to pair the I-PHONO Mini with both the iPod transmitter and the RAZR simultaneously. We’ll see how these things all work together.
First, I shut off the Bluetooth connections from before and made sure there wasn’t a Bluetooth application open. Then I started the pairing process as before. With the headset blinking like police lights, the RAZR could detect the I-PHONO Mini connection. After making a few fairly obvious choices, the two seemed to recognize each other. The headset went to blinking blue, and the phone recognized the pairing too.

I also want to add that the manual said we would need to enter a series of zeros as a password to make the connection. The phone never requested that, but this is not really an issue. In the picture below you can see the microphone sticking out from he right ear piece I'm holding. The idex and thumb fingers are in just about the same places as where the two controlling and pairing buttons are located.

A couple of us in the office tried out the RAZR and I-PHONO combonation to make phone calls. At first, the calls started out with a bit of intermittent static and cut out briefly now and then. We realized we were holding the RAZR close and it was open, so maybe it was interfering slightly.
The later calls were a bit better. The calls started out with a little static here and there, and as we stepped away from the phone it seemed quite a bit clearer. Every couple minutes it would skip a syllable, but it was nothing that is out of the ordinary for a handsfree set. Actually, it’s quite a bit better than some handsfree sets I’ve heard.
With the phone already paired, I set the headset to pairing mode again. I turned on the iPod transmitter. About 10 seconds later, it was playing music again and sounded absolutely great.
When a phone call came in, the headset beeped once every few seconds. After touching the button on the right earpiece, the music shut off and the call came on. The call quality was just as good as the last one and wasn’t lessened by having another connection open. When the caller hung up, it switched back to music within a second. The whole system worked flawlessly and painlessly.
