Asus MyPal A716 PDA Review - Picture and Sound

The sound quality of the integrated speakers leaves something to be desired but using the headphone jack and your favorite cans the A716 offers a better than average listening experience. With an optional memory card this thing would actually make a pretty damn good MP3 player especially considering it's lengthy battery life. Also the integrated microphone was nothing spectacular but would work great for taking a quick note or something on the fly and listening to it later if you ever needed to.

One thing I was rather impressed with was the quality of the video playback. I opened up Windows Media Player and then linked to the online content where you can stream some free content. As you can see below, I found a clip on the making of the recent blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl.

As you can see by the excellent quality of the video in the pictures above the A716 could easily be a portable video player. I can definitely see myself watching a movie(or two as my battery test showed) on a long trip somewhere on a plane or in a passenger seat. Also keep in mind that the video clip in the picture is a 300k stream, if you got one of those high capacity CompactFlash cards you could easily put a high quality movie on there and have even better video.
