Apple`s iPhone Competition - UTStarcom and Meizu
(Page 3 of 4 )

UTStarcom is going to keep roughly the same design as its predecessor. It's still going to be a horizontal flip phone; it has, however, lost the external antenna. This too will run the new Windows Mobile 6. It will have internal memory, but nowhere near the 8 GB that the iPhone has. It sports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and EV-DO rev A. The rev A is more or less just a faster speed for downloads. It has a MicroSD card slot for memory expansion. Sprint will also support this phone, starting in the fall.
The big downside to this phone is the 400 MHz Qualcomm CPU, which will be slower than its predecessor. Overall I don't think that this is that great of an upgrade; it's more or less just a little rearranging with a bump up to a new model number. If you're in the market for the VX6800, when this comes out you could probably grab a VX6700 for cheap. As a note to the picture above, when the keyboard slides out, the screen will automatically flip to landscape viewing.

If you can't design something better, why not steal the design? It's not like Apple's ideas haven't been stolen; their iPod shuffle has had generic manufacturers for a while. The iPhone isn't even out yet and this looks a little too much like the iPhone for Meizu to call it their own design; it's the Meizu M8 PMP. This looks more or less just like the iPhone.
It runs Windows Mobile 6, with what to me looks like an "iPhone" skin or theme. It may be able to be downloaded and installed on all Windows Mobile 6 devices. Whether or not this actually hits the market if Apple gets on them is another story, and I have very very slim hopes to see this anywhere in the U.S. market and picked up by any carrier.
