    Apple Update News

Earlier this year, Apple said they were done with all the grand product releases. They said they were just going to calmly and quietly release products. That was a couple of months ago -- and they just had a grand event for some more new products. There were many predictions swirling around about a tablet, a camera in a new iPod Touch, and even a new Apple TV. Here’s a roundup with what happened and what might be around the corner.

    Steve Jobs

One of the best events of the day was when Steve Jobs walked out onto the podium. After taking a leave of absence and going through an organ transplant, he is back at work at Apple. He looked healthier and better than the last time we saw him. It's nice to see Steve Jobs back at work at Apple; I'm looking forward to what else he has up his sleeves.

    iPhone

There weren't any new iPhones released, and people didn’t think there would be. Steve did introduce the new OS 3.1 released for iPod Touch and iPhone. They added a genius search for apps, similar to the genius bar in iTunes for music. They are also introducing over 30,000 ringtones for download for the iPhone, at a “breakthrough” price of $1.29.

I’m not sure where the breakthrough is in that. I thought the price of songs on iTunes is $1.29; charging the same for the song and ringtone seems like a rip off. I’m not sure who is going to buy these, but I’m sure the recording industry loves this. The up side for iPhone users is that 3.1 will be a free update.
