80 GB Microsoft Zune Review - Features Continued

    New Zune Software

The new Zune software is very different from the original Zune software. The new software is not like the Windows Media Player software, as you may initially think. It is fresh and brightly colored, and makes organizing your music easy. Microsoft has integrated an online music store called the Zune Marketplace into the software, which is Microsoft's answer to iTunes. There is also a nice Zune online community where die-hard Zune users can chat about the latest Zune news.

The only downside to the Zune software is that it is only compatible with a PC. Now, this isn't a total surprise since the Zune is in direct competition with Apple products, but it still eliminates anyone who wants to buy a Zune but can't because they don't have a PC. I guess this further divides Mac users from PC users.

    FM Radio

The built-in FM radio works great in the new Zune. The FM radio features RBDS, which means that the Zune will display the radio station's call letters or station name.

    Features that the Zune lacks

    • Equalizer

    • Voice recorder

    • FM recording

    • Web browsing or any kind of Internet capabilities
