    OCZ Platinum PC4800 - Conclusion

The OCZ Platinum PC4800 is beefy memory. Even at stock settings the modules perform incredibly well. For OCZ to even release RAM this fast with moderate timings is amazing. The only downside I can think of is that this memory doesn’t overclock very well; what you get out of the box is what you get.

OCZ does sell even faster RAM; anything that can go faster probably gets bumped up. There are other companies that offer the same chips that are on this memory. There are even companies that have the attractive heat spreaders, but OCZ is the only one that sells this memory with this latency at such high speeds. This is some of the fastest memory that I have seen, and deserves the Dev Hardware Recommended award. OCZ continues their greatness in producing outstanding memory.

    Pros

    • Fast
    • Decent timings
    • Lifetime warranty
    • Decent lower latency speeds

    Cons

    • Little headroom
    • Somewhat expensive
