    OCZ Platinum PC4800

Our last review of OCZ memory took a look at the company's VX PC3200. The Platinum PC4800 is a different beast altogether. It doesn't like higher volts, for openers, and it's targeted to general overclockers rather than gamers. Does it still deliver the exceptional performance we've come to expect from OCZ? Jkabaseball checks it out.

In our last review of memory from OCZ we took a look at their VX PC3200.  That memory was some of the best we have reviewed here at DevHardware, and walked away with the DevHardware Recommended award. This time we will be taking a look at their Platinum PC4800 memory. This is a different type of memory as far as the target consumer. The VX offers low latency, but sacrifices the speed. The Platinum PC4800 sacrifices the latency to much higher speeds. Can OCZ continue to meet the high expectations they inspire with this memory?

    What you get

The heat spreaders on this memory are a "Platinum" color.  They are very eye catching, and if you have some lights in your case, it would make this memory shine as well as it performs.

The memory is rated at DDR600, PC4800, with a latency of 2.5-4-4-10. OCZ recommends a command rate of 2T for this memory, though it will be able to run 1T on some motherboards. 1T gives a slightly better performance as compared to 2T.
