OCZ EL DDR PC-3200 Dual Channel Platinum Edition

    Installation
Installation is fairly straight forward. As with any memory, you simply make sure you have it turned the right direction and lock it into place. Instructions are included as well for the discerning PC builder that wishes to read the documentation provided with their hardware.

With the DC (dual channel) systems hitting the market, a memory install now takes an extra special step. Typically, a DC capable motherboard will require you to insert a minimum of 2 sticks of memory. One stick in slot 1 and one stick in slot 3. Below is a shot of the OCZ platinum installed in Single Channel Mode, and below that is a shot installed in Dual Channel Mode. Lets take a look.

    Dual Channel

Additionally, you can also run Dual Dual Channel with memory inserted in slots 1,2,3 and 4. Here is another shot of the memory before we move on to some benchmarks.

    Benchmarking

Here are the benchmarking programs we'll be using today for the OCZ EL Platinum 3200 DC Review.

    Benchmarks

    1. SiSoft Sandra Pro 2003 (2003.1.9.26)
    2. PCMark 2002 Pro
    3. 3DMark 2001 SE Pro (Build 330)
    4. MemTach (v0.93 Alpha)

    Test System

    SiSoft Sandra Memory Benchmarks

The OCZ Platinum 3200 puts up some extremely respectable memory performace thanks to the awesome new Intel DC memory controllers. Going from stock speeds of 200MHz (PC3200) to 233MHz (PC3700) shows a significant boost in memory bandwidth.

    3DMark01 SE Build 330

We start out with standard settings @200MHz and increase from there. Going a bit more aggressive to 2/6/3/2 gives us a small increase in 3DMarks of only just over 100 marks, however when raising the bus to 233MHz we see a significant jump to 19251 3DMarks. 3DMark would not finish through an entire session with slightly more aggressive settings at 2.5/7/3/3. Still, considering this is PC3200, I'm pretty pleased. Not to mention the added bandwidth alone gives us a great score boost. Very nice.
