Our next test is in the suite of applications that are in Sandra. These benchmarks will show us the memory bandwidth in float point and integer.

Once again our results are close together for the stock and tightened timings. I mean you're only changing the CAS latency down from 5 to 4 so you shouldn't expect very much out of this minor change. When we overclock the RAM we once again see a small increase in bandwidth. This will help a little in real life applications but don't expect much out of it.

Conclusion

OCZ has been one of my favorite memory manufacturers for a long time now. Their memory which we have previously reviewed has been nothing less then awesome. They overclocked well with extremely tight timings. Alongside this amazing performance came OCZ's lifetime warranty, and out-of-this-world tech support.

Today we tested OCZ Gold XTC DDR2 memory. This product also comes with OCZ's lifetime warranty and outstanding tech support. Unfortunately this memory doesn't perform like the other memory I have tested. The stock timings are pretty much what you are going to want to stay with, and they aren't great to start with.

If you want any extra performance out of this memory, it's best to overclock the stock timings as far as they will take you. Still, this RAM is surely better than any generic memory you can buy. It does overclock reasonably well for the price too.

My biggest surprise came when I felt the sticks during benchmarking. Normally I am used to the RAM being really hot, but these sticks weren't hot at all to the touch. While this memory offers incredible support, I feel it does come up a little short in the performance aspect. The OCZ Gold XTC memory won't win any awards from us, but still should be a serious contender if you are looking for some cheap DDR2 memory.
