Kingston HyperX KHX4000K2-1GB Memory Review - Benchmarks 2

    Aquamark v3.0

Aquamark v3.0 is another newer benchmark that really stresses the video card in you system. Unlike 3DMark2003 it is based on a real game engine so in theory it should give us a better view of what running the system at the various settings. The results are what you would expect. With a nice 500 point jump between running the memory at PC3200 and PC4000 speeds.

    Unreal Tournament 2003

Unreal Tournament 2003 has become a great gaming benchmark, since it is unmistakably based on a real and popular game engine utilizing DirectX 8. And with the free demo and built in benchmarking function, it's easy for people to compare their systems performance.  I first ran the benchmark at 640x480 to limit the effects of the video card on the test results. Here I concentrated primarily on the average frame rates in the center of the graph. You can see a 3.2 frames per second jump between PC3200 and PC4000 for the average frame rates and 4.4 frames per second for the low frame rates. Not a band performance increase for the memory. I think anyone would prefer a 12.8% increase in the low frame rate.

The next test was run at 1024x768 to represent the video settings that you may actually run while playing the game. I was very surprised to see the average frame rates nearly identical to the average frame rates run at 640x480. At this resolution we don't see nearly the performance difference we saw at 640x480. Obviously the video card is limiting the affects of the increased memory bandwidth.
