Dual Channel - Gaming Benchmarks
For the gaming benchmark I ran 3Dmark 2001 SE. It’s showing its age, but will show the greatest change in memory bandwidth. The current generation of video cards create a bottleneck in the CPU and memory performance.

The results weren’t astonishing, but there is a noticeable gain when the system was run in dual channel mode.
While 3Dmark 2001 SE does do a good job of predicting gaming performance, nothing is better then a real game. I opted to run one of the hottest games now, Counter Strike: Source. The Counter Strike results can be expected to reflect results you would see for other games such as Half-Life 2. These scores are the FPS from the video card stress test. While it does stress the video card, there is a lot of information sent through the memory controller.

There is not a whole lot gained, but every little bit counts. The video card used it fast enough for it not to become a factor when running tests. This throws the bottleneck on the other components, such as the memory and CPU, both of which are affecting by the memory controller.
