Crucial Ballistix PC3200 2x512MB Memory Review - The Benchmarks
(Page 4 of 8 )
Benchmarks were run with the processor at the stock speed of 2.4 GHz with a 200MHz system bus and memory timings of 2-2-2-5, except Corsair's PC4400. The PC4400 memory can not run at 2-2-2-5 timings regardless of bus speeds. The PC4400 was run with its rated 3-4-4-8 timings. The benchmarks were then run again with the processor at 3.0GHz and a system bus speed of 250MHz. A 5:4 ratio was used for the PC4400 memory, effectively running the memory at its rated 200MHz but with a CPU capable of greater bandwidth. The PC4400 was run with 1:1 ratio in all tests.
SiSoft Sandra
First, SiSoft Sandra was fired up. A virtually insignificant difference between Crucial's Ballistix PC3200, Kingston's PC3200UL and Corsair's PC3200XL was recorded. Corsair does have a slight lead, but that is easily within the margin of error.
The positions change here, but not in any discernable way among the PC3200 modules. The PC4400 does jump out to quite a lead. It will be interesting to see if this holds up in other tests.
