Crucial Ballistix DDR2 Memory - A Closer Look
(Page 2 of 4 )

Now that we have talked about what SLI memory is and any possible benefits from it, we will take a closer look at the actual memory. The heat spreaders are a very distinctive yellow color. Inside the heat spreaders are Crucial memory sticks. These are really well known and very popular. Crucial has been around a long time, but haven't until recently got into the high performance memory market. The company has used its knowledge and experience in memory to make these Crucial Ballistix memories.
So what is Crucial Ballistix memory and what makes it different from their regular memory? To start off, they have the yellow heat spreaders on them and they also operate at higher frequencies and at tighter timings, both things that help performance. Here is what Crucial has to say about the Ballistix memory:
The Ballistix line is specifically built for performance enthusiasts who want to push the performance envelope without worrying about data loss or corruption, mysterious intermittent errors and display problems, or worse - the dreaded BSOD! The Ballistix line of high-performance memory modules features advanced speed grades, low latencies, and integrated aluminum heat spreaders.

As you can see, this is performance RAM for overclocking or gaming and not really for your grandparents' Dell computer. You will end up paying a little more for the extra performance, but you should see some benefits in the right computer.
